An arrested suspect in the June 27 massacre of five members of a family, including three young children, in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan was presented to media Thursday and owned up to the crime.
Construction worker Carmelino Ibañez, 26, said before breaking into the home of the Carlos family, just two lots down from where he lived in Barangay Santo Cristo, he had smoke crystal meth or shabu and drank liquor.
The massacre was discovered when security guard Dexter Carlos arrived home Tuesday morning to find the bodies of his wife Estrella, 28, mother-in-law Aurora Dizon, 58, and children Donni Carlos, 11, Ella, 7, and Dexter Jr., 1, scattered around his house, all with multiple stab wounds.
Ibañez also admitted to raping both Estrella and her mother.
The suspect asked for forgiveness at the presentation.
Despite his confession, police are still looking into the possibility he did not commit the murders alone.
